Multiple H1 Transfers - Status

I was hired by company A on a H1B petition from India. The visa was valid upto 31st October 2001. Company B filed a transfer petition valid through August, 2002. Company C filed for a transfer petition valid through 2003. Visa of Company C endorsed on my passport a month before the expiry of my original Visa (Company A). I worked for all 3 companies. Company C laid me off on Jan, 2002, bought me a 1 way ticket to India. I flew back to India in Jan, 2002. Now Company B wants me to work for them again(their H1 petition is valid through Aug, 2002). Assume that Company C would have cancelled my H1 petition.
1. Is the petition of Company B valid? or Does it have to file a fresh petition?
2. If the petition of Company B is valid, do I have to approach the U.S consulate for endorsement of their Visa on my passport?
3. How can I know if Company C has cancelled my Visa or not?

i was in a similar situation except with two companies and i was in US the whole time,
my lawyer told me that as long as the date on one company\'s h-1b is still valid, and they have not revoked it, then u can work for them w/o them having to refile. it shudnt matter that any other h-1s have been revoked. but u may need ot get it stamped on ur passport, which means u\'ll have to show pay stubs. & get an employment letter.
i was also wondering how to find out whether a petition has been revoked from INS or not. if u come across this info, pls let me kno
