MTR vs Resubmitting - pros and cons

I posted yesterday about our case being denied due to "abandonment" for not appearing to the interview, even though we sent back the letter with a reason stating that a relative was sick and I was going to be travelling during those dates. The interview letter arrived only a few days before my departure. I had previously obtained an Advanced Parole document from the same office for this specific travel.

I have since spoken to an attorney who advises that we reresubmit the whole application and thinks he can reinstate the case in that fashion.

Can anyone give me their pros and cons for MTR vs reapplying the whole process?

Will it be in held against me if I resubmit the application when my previous one was denied?
