Moving while I-485 is pending

Guys

I was previously under the impression that it was not possible to move (change address) while I-485 was pending. I understood that because labor certification was filed in the city that I am currently working in, that if I moved, labor would no longer be valid.

However, from reading other people's experiences, it seems that it is possible to move (city and state). Please can someone clarify?

(Have sent an e-mail today to lawyer and co. asking them to check status of my application...).

Thanks guys!

People have moved across states, even from coast to coast, but there is a small chance that ur case might get transferred resulting in furhter delays. it's ur choice, but it is possible.

Moving

scotgirl,

You can move and file AR-11 and call NCSC, i.e. the user friendly hotline.

People also change jobs and move: they mostly use AC-21: Similar job plus USCIS memos.

Since AC-21 has a lot of loopholes and is not a law yet, the upper hand is with USCIS from now until Citizenship (whether one is interested or not).True, there are a lot of success stories with AC-21 but the USCIS has the right to come back and re-evaluate the GC. Since you are not changing jobs, this is academic for you.

True also, that some lawyers still believe that a a change of job even with similar duties beyond the STATISTICAL METROPOLITAN AREA invalidates the LC. This is from the DOL and the LC characteristics..this area is about 45-50 miles from your current job. AC-21 proved this to be wrong but the lawyers are still practicing...

Thanks to both of you. I guess best thing is just to stay where I am for the time being. I'm glad I wasn't wrong in my estimation of the problems that moving might cause.

I've waited this long....

Thanks again!
