Moving to W2 without H1 transfer

Hi

My H1 is with company A, Company B approached me for a project with a very good client but company B can not present C2C consultant, I have to be on their W2, Is it possible to move to company B's W2 without transferring H1?

Your employer must have a H1B petition and approval for you to be in their employ. If you want to work for B, B must file a petiton for you.
