Moving to I-140 - more confusion

My LC was filed & approved with a PD of July 06 (EB3 - Bachelors in EE with over 6 yrs work exp). Now my employer is going ahead with I-140 filing. I did some reading on I-140 filing options on this forum and need a couple of points clarified if someone can please help me in this regard.

I am on my 7th yr H1 which will be expiring in May'07. This extension was granted based on a pending LC filed by my previous employer. I swithced employers (due to certain situation) right after getting this 7th yr extension. Now since my approved LC would be less 1 yr old in May'07, I wont be able to get 1 yr H-1 extension. There's this option of 3 yr H-1 ext based on retrogression (nonavailability of visa numbers). Could I benefit from this option and go directly for 3 yr extension?? (I am from Pakistan). If so, would premium processing of I-140 be a good option? I am not clear about this "retrogression" concept - if this was so easy to get, then everyone would be going for 3 yr extension beyond 6 yrs rather than opting for 1 yr extensions.

Second, the Questionnaire that the company lawyer sent to me for I-140 filing asks if I want to do CP. Would CP be a good option for me under my current situation or should I just stay in the US & go for the longer route?

So if the experienced ones can please give some expert opinions on the above confusing points. I would really appreciate your help. Thanks

Hellllooo ??? can anyone please post an advice in regards to questions I posted earlier?? Thanks

IT would seem to me if you file your I140 with premium processing it will be ready within a month or so, if an RFE is not requested. You may even have time to process it without PP. Check the wait times for the center you'd apply to. If it is approved, you can then apply for a 3 yr extension on your H1B.

If you go for CP you'd have to return to your country. I don't see why you'd go that route.

thanks for your posting lastminuter. this 3 yrs extension I'd be getting based on retrogression ?
