Moving To Canada Need Some Hel With Reguad To My H1

Hi Guys,
 I am moving to Canada by the end of this month on PR basis.My question is I have my H1B visa valid till MAY 02,do I need to tell INS before moving to Canada or is it ok if I just leave the country with out informing then I am moving to Canada for good.Some one was telling me that its a safe practice to tell INS before leaving.In that way I can save what ever remaing time I have on my H1.Thanks,

If you are moving prmanently then you should surrender your I-94 when you take a Flight for Canada but if you want to return back to USA within 30 days from Canada then NO need to surrender it. Yes it is correct that if you surrender your I-94 now it will be proof with INS that you were out of Canada and can SAVE the Time on H1B, but your employer should not Cancell it if he cancelles or informs INS then it is all over.
