Moving to another apartment within district

I am planning to apply for my citizenship in another few months. I may have a need to move to another apartment before the processing completes BUT WITHIN the same district. I am told it is better not to change address once the application is sent. I see the N-400 form has the "HOME ADDRESS" and a "MAILING ADDRESS"
To avoid this problem, can I give the address of a friend who lives in the same district as my MAILING ADDRESS? That way I am free to change apartments (within district) without having worrying about losing mail from BCIS.

For my green card processing, I used the office address as permanent address. So I would assume you can use your friend's address. But you should be able to convince the INS officer, if ever asked, about the mailing address and residence address.

One best thing is to use your office address. And changing apartments should NOT be a problem because you can file a change of address form with post office and they will direct mail to your new address for nearly 6 months. Unless your case is complicated, there should not be problems. My 2 cents

Thanks for the idea of office address and sharing your experience. But I thought one has to really live at that place i.e. have utility bills, etc in case they check. Isn't that a issue with using the office address?

Second question, I keep hearing that changing address is an issue once one files. Most posts on this newsgroups are from people who have moved to other states and have found it caused a delay
But if I move WITHIN THE DISTRICT and file filing AR-11 (as reqd by law) is that known to can cause delay too?

Change of address within the same district office shouldnt be a problem. Just file the AR-11 and call the National Service Center..

INS officer can NOT ask for your utility bills. It is not his territory. He cannot ask for proof of address (well he can actually and you can show the company ID or the office address). He would usually ask "Are you living at the same place or changed address?" Beyond that he would not worry about it.

Also within district COA is not a big deal. People move all the time. You can say that at your apt, the mail is sometimes inconsistent and that is the reason you choose office address. No worries bud! It is nothing at all to worry.
