Moving to a new state after N400 biometrics?

Hi all, we filed in August 2020 and have our biometrics scheduled for next week. Los Angeles has a long estimated wait time... 12.5 - 19.5 months. We are potentially moving to a new state next month - to Austin TX (which uses San Antonio processing centre). San Antonio's wait times seem to be considerably shorter, 8.5 - 12 months.

If we change our address, our case file (e-filed) will be transferred to San Antonio, but does anyone know if we'll go to the back of the line? Or will it actually speed up our case versus waiting for super-slow LA? Any potential issues we should be aware of?

Thanks so much in advance x

You’ll keep your original priority date. I know of a couple of people who moved states and got scheduled almost as soon as they moved as the new states had shorter queues/their priority date jumped them to the front of the line there. Re potential pitfalls, there are also people who report that the case file doesn’t actually move and they end up getting an interview notice from their original FO, so maybe a follow up with uscis a few weeks after you file AR11 might be a good idea.

Thanks, SusieQQQ. I don't know my priority date (how do I find this out?) My estimated case completion says May 2021 but I think this is way out as with LA's current processing times it would be more like Aug 2021 - March 2022 o_O

It’s the date you filed, if you filed online (if paper the date they received it at uscis).

Thank you! I'm nervous about my case getting lost during the transfer and can't find many IRL cases of people who've moved states during processing!
