Guys,
I've asked this before but haven't gotten any clear answers. JoeF and/or others, please advise..

Can I move to a different team within the same company (different location, different position but in the same line of work, just a natural progression in career) within 6 months of 485 approval?

Since it is the same company, I wouldn't be violating the good faith law, right? The law should be for a company and not a team, right?

Have you talked with company lawyer regarding this stuff?? What he has to say about this? Please post lawyers comments.

thanks, JoeF. but, when I file the citizenship application, wouldn't I just need to say who I worked for?

i. And how would they know which team it is?
ii. Also, what if the team structure changed due to restructuring?

Finally, do you know anyone who's changed jobs after 1 year, considering that it is a safe approach. I mean, are the majority of folks taking that route?

One more thing - layoff is not a problem right. I remembering you mentioning this earlier but just wanted to double check. Does one have to notify USCIS in case of a layoff or file something of that sort?

Thanks!

abouttime,

I dont think you need to worry because you are not changing employers. First of all you need not specify what exact team you were working on - and the officer is also not going to ask you what "team" in your company you were working - why should he care?!

You are absolutely safe with regard to changing teams.

thanks, gctechie. that's what I initially thought but JoeF mentioned otherwise. i mean, when they look at the employment history and they see the same company, would they even think about asking if I work for the same team?

I wonder if this is another gray area..

What if the job profile doesn't conflict with what it says in the LC? I could move to a different team but still work in the same broad set of technologies mentioned in the LC, right.

Also, what do you mean by "attitute"? Why would anyone go to the interview with any kind of attitute (unless they're crazy!)?

Finally, if we didn't take the rare-case scenarios, can we say that it is relatively safe to move to a different team?

Whats your company lawyer has to say about it?? Have you talked with him??
Only his opinion will clear matter.
