Friends,
My 485 was filed @CSC in March'02.
Now i moved to VSC in July with AC21.
Would that mean that my case would be transfered to VSC now(already applied for address change)?
Also does that mean now We have wait more time then regular time(I know there is nt regular time but have read in some postings here that your file may be lined up at bottom when it moved from one area to other)?

Any ideas....?

That same question was asked at one of Murthy's Chats recently. Her answer was: NO. When you move from one service center jurisdiction to another, your file does NOT get transfered automatically. It stays where you filed originally. However, a transfer to a local office is still possible, not specifically because you moved. If a local transfer is initiated, however, it will be to the local office covering your new address.

Hey guys,
Im in the same situation as you reach_honey but with some differences.. I think I am more screwed than you are. My RD is Apr 2002 for i485 at CSC. I was with my sponsoring employer till jan 2003 after which i got laid off and was unemployed for 2 months. I got a job in NY and moved here in May2004 and did not change my address to my NY address but changed it to a CA address which is my uncles to avoid switching and delays associated with transfer to VSC. Now, i just saw that the online status says my case got transferred to local office in San Francisco and i dont know what to do. Should i change my address now to NY address which i should have done in May04 but didnt due to fear of coming to VSC? I have heard that transfers happen automatically if your address changes out of the service center jurisdiction?
Also i heard that the delays associated with the transfers of service centers are unbelievable! I wonder if i dont inform them if they will ever find out during the interview that i actually live in NY.. maybe from paystub but i can always say i fly back to CA every weekend and hence didnt change my address.. This might be something that could be done to avoid transfer. What say? The transfer takes upto 1 year based on one case i know. So frustrating!!!!
What does your lawyer say if u have one??
