Hello!
I am a U.S. citizen. I have been residing and working in Canada for the past six years. I have a current Work Authorisation (renewed every year, thank you NAFTA!), current BC (British Columbia) driver's license, and current U.S. passport.
I am planning to return to the States permanently at the end of next month (August).
My husband and I have decided to rent a moving truck from Seattle, Washington...drive it to Victoria, BC (where we live)...pack it up...then drive it back through to Washington and to our final destination. this will mean two trips across the Border...one with an empty truck...and one with a loaded truck.
When we moved to Canada, we had no trouble at the Border Crossing. But, we were in a car (not a moving truck) and it was before September 11th.
My question is...should we anticipate anything specific at the Border Crossing? Will there have to be an inspection of the truck? (if so, this could affect how we pack and load it)
We will have two cats with us...they already met the Border Crossing Guards when we moved here
...so I know to have their Immunization records handy.
We are just wanting to be as prepared as possible. Any suggestions, tips, and info would be most appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Denaunie
