Moved to India - Who would notify INS?

I recently moved back to india after being on H1B that expires in Sept 05. Is it my responsibility to notify INS or should my company notify INS?

If nobody notifies INS (however, my I94 was handed over at port of exit), would there be a problem in case I were to re-enter US at a later date- say 2 yrs from now?

If you have handed your I-94 while leaving , Thats is more than enough to prove your departure
