Hi all,

I have just moved from Massachusettes to North Carolina. I got my green card while I was living in MA. I have never lived outside of VSC area. Now that I moved to NC, will I have any delay in N-400 process?

What are the chances of delay in N-400 process? Are all my papers going to be sent from VSC to here?

NOTE: I am yet to apply N-400. I can't apply until at least I complete 3 months of stay in this district. I will be applying sometime after July, 2007.

Thanks,
Newbie001.

Once you have your 3 months residency you can apply. I don't think your move will affect your processing (but, of course, what do I know).

It shouldn't affect anything. I applied for citizenship in a different service center jurisdiction (although not your two...I moved from TSC to CSC) and my processing was right on par with others in Los Angeles.

I think they request the file and it gets mailed to the service center at the beginning of your application process. They don't really need it until the interview is scheduled because I don't think the service center reviews the file.

When I was getting interviewed (early in the morning), it was extremely interesting to see the process at work. There were literally 100s of files in large carts that were being brought into the office. I wonder what would happen if one of them just fell off in the elevator or something...

That's kind of what happened to me - my file disappeared for about 3 or 4 weeks. My application got delayed about 5 months and it took much work (InfoPasses, interventions by congressman and a senator) to get it back on track.

Thanks for your replies. I really appreciate them.

BTW, Flydog... If I translate your nickname (or handle) into my mother tongue it sounds like a very funny curse (mild) word. I guess, you know that language too.

thanks again guys,
