Bombay consulate -
My mother-in-law's visa was rejected..they wanted to know why she needed to go for 6 months. Her application form had duration of stay as 6 months, she said it was to visit her son and travel in US. They asked her to call her son to visit her..rude..anyway she is going to reapply..
We had applied for the 10 year multiple entry visa. She had all her documents and applications..there was no problem with it.
This is what my mother inlaw observed at the embassy:
All folks with family seemed to get their visas approved.
Too much rush , now since everyone has to give interviews, so they hardly give u a min to talk add to it many students this month applying for visas since college year is starting..
All interviewers were americans, so wondering if she goes to the hindi window counter it will help..
The guy didn't see any papers, just application and said how can u travel alone and leave ur husband for 6 months? ask ur son to come and take u there?? (wouldn't that make her still need her visa??)

1) We are GC holders..is this a prob?
2) Should we shorten the duration now in her next application? what would be a more appropriate answer to this? Can she say she hasn't met her son for past 3 years...or would that raise more doubts?
3)We are thinking of entering the period of stay as 3-4 weeks...and ask her to go for an interview in sep when student rush reduces..
4) heard about a hindi & english counter in bombay..one of the guys is rude..can u help which one would be more beneficial..don't want to make a mistake this time.
5) She had only applied for her visa since my father in law is still working and cannot come till dec.Wonderng if her travelling alone is the prob..or should we apply for both together?

If any one has tips or knowledge of how the people at bombay consulate are..do let us know..wondering if she takes an appointment in the morning they will be in better receptive mood.
Could u please help? We were hoping she could come here by end of sept/oct first week..
Thanks
Radhika:(

1. Both ur FIL and MIL shd apply nad then if your FIL can't come...your MIL can come
2. Try to go in the first days of the month...like 1st to 15th.....and/or on a thu/friday.
3. Your inlaws can say that they are goin for tourism .
4. If your inlaws have problem understanding American accent then they go to the HIndi Counter. Your FIL shd have a NOC.

My parents got visa in the second attempt...........so don't loose hope and GOOD LUCK.
