Hi, when did they mention this? Why would they divulge such information? What are they implying? I thought that the elimination process was completed since the first round.....

yes, well, this will be a good thing for thoses who didn't put duplicate entries, meaning the probalities of being choosen will be even higher (not that much but still)

Yes, but this is thier normal procedure; that is to perform a process of elimination.

in the consular website they put the transcrip of an interview
http://barbados.usembassy.gov/pr05162011a.html

SENIOR STATE DEPARTMENT OFFICIAL: The main reason is that as part of the application process, you may only submit one application. So we - during the last six months since the first selection process, we have gone through all of the selectees to ensure that they had applied appropriately and that they had only applied once. We will now do that with the new selection group, but we are going to redouble our efforts to make sure we can do it in a shortened time, because our goal is to not have it affect the visa processing year which begins on October 1st, 2011. So we hope that we can - this will not have any impact on the processing of these visas, that we will process these as normal when we are permitted to start processing, which is not before October 1st, 2011.

Shouldn't be a big deal.
They just clean up duplicated entries.
I heard people will submit many ones based on different fake names.
And change name to the chosen one after.
Oh, this explains why we always have people in the forum worried that they either misspelled their names or their parents name, or the date of birth is slightly wrong. I always felt sorry for them though wondered how can you misspell your name since you are not under much time pressure when you enter the lottery. I think a bunch of cheaters still make it through.

exactly, it's pretty easy to complete the application form. So, no toleration for people who have completed it with wrong information.

SENIOR STATE DEPARTMENT OFFICIAL: We selected out about - and I don't have the exact number on this - 90,000 that we wanted to net 50,000 from. Of those, 90,000, over 90 percent were from Monday and Tuesday

Could the above mean that more than 90,000 persons were selected on the first 2 days?

well, you got a point, some could enter their real name, then using another picture, change one or two letters... then with a third pic, another slight change ect...
Actualy i never though about that.. I guess many entries will be disqualify

Why would it be more disqualifications in the 2nd round?. If they had done their job thoughly in the 1st round, the number of disqualified applicants should remain the same, thus making the second round much, much easier. Therefore, I still don't see the point of extending the date to July 15th. Why not June 15th or even earlier? Hmmmmmmm, was it really a 'bug' or an excuse to implement other changes? Who knows, they may want to have a 2nd look at the winners information etc...Additionally, in an effort to honor the initial winners, can they code the computer to re-select these ones?

well, it is much easier since they don't have to review all 19 millions entries (because deriviatives wrongly entered in the main aplicant entry can disqualify the entry.

Agreed, but they should have already checked the derivatives information too in the 1st round. Geesh, 2 additional months to do what? The time consuming process should have been in the 1st round. It really shouldn't take them 2 months to prepare data files etc. for the new winners...Ah well, 2 months it is!

maybe one month for checking, then drawing & then 1 month or less for data... & maybe they found duplicate entries among the 90 000 selected that could explain the re checking... Keep in mind that there are some peoples who applied for the past 10 to 15 years & never won so they may got to a point where they said "screw it, I keep losing so I got nothing to lose by trying to push my luck so let it be"

They probably only check the 100 000 selected entry's since checking 15 million entry's would take to much time, and since it's a new draw all the new selected entry's will have to be checked.

So wait a minute, the disqualified applicants are in the 2nd round as well?

nope, they are doing a recheck.
how can they reinsert the disqualify to just delete them again thus adding too much work?
the thing is that they might have seen duplicate selected

They probably only check the 100 000 selected entry's since checking 15 million entry's would take to much time, and since it's a new draw all the new selected entry's will have to be checked.
Which means that they will have to check at least 1,666 winning entries per day in order to meet the deadline.

Ah my point exactly, so again the 2nd round should be less time consuming. Anyway, 58 more days to go.

I've always wondered as well but was never brave enough to even ask.....lol. I believe people may make a genuine mistake though.
