National Customer Service Center (NCSC)
The conversion to the NCSC has been delayed. It is anticipated that the (800) 375-5283 will come on line June 2, 2003 and that the last day the CSC lines will be answered will be June 6, 2003. On June 9, 2003, only the NCSC line will be available for inquiries.

Adjudication Priorities
The adjudication of adjustment applications (I-485s) continues not to be a priority at this time. The priority continues to be given to the adjudication of Employment Authorization Applications (I-765) and Nonimmigrant Visa Petitions (I-129). It is hoped that I-765s will be adjudicated within 90 days (currently processing January 2003 cases). By the end of September 2003, it is hoped that I-129s will be processed within four months.

It is anticipated that the processing times for Immigrant Visa Petitions (I-140) will be delayed.

Adjustment Applications (I-485)
These types of cases, as mentioned above, are not a priority at this time. The JIT Report Processing Date has not changed for a number of months due to the situation in November 2002 when the adjudication of these cases was put on hold. Since the end of January 2003, the adjudication of these cases resumed, but since so many cases needed to have additional background checks done, and the receipt of responses to Requests for Evidence received – much of the adjucators’ time has been spent on these issues and thus very few cases, if any, have been pulled from the shelf, which would allow the date to move forward. It is not expected that there will be much movement on these cases as a result of adjudication priorities discussed above.

Concurrent Filings
Applications for Advance Parole and Employment Authorization (EAD) will not be adjudicated until the underlying Employment Based Visa Petition (I-140) is approved. However, if the EAD application is pending for more than 90 days and no Request for Evidence (RFE) has been issued on the underlying I-140 OR a response to an RFE has been filed more than 90 days, the individual may go to the local BCIS office to apply for an interim EAD card.

The long and short of it is the following:

"Hello aspiring immigrants,

1. We WILL delay I-140
2. We WILL delay I-485

We won't say it, but in the current economic climate we do not want to approve any more immigrant petitions, and we shall try and stall the ones we have approved. We can do this and there is f*** all you can do about it. We are doing this in the hope that either your employer will die or you will lose your job before we touch your case. Of course, we understand that some of you lucky ones will escape either scenario described above, and we would probably be laying ourselves open to legal attack if we made it absolutely impossible for you guys to work... so we will continue to issue EADs, hoping that some of you will tire of the process and your inability to claim other immigrant benefits, and leave anyway. Either way we see it, the EAD processing revenue is good while it keeps coming in, and mabye even enough of you will leave , with your Social security dollars left behind for Social Security not to go bankrupt after all. We really needed you guys when we felt the need to be globally competitive. Now that we have guys running the administration who can't see beyond their noses, we shall shaft you as royally as we can. Good luck, and thank you for applying with BCIS. Have a nice life."

I don't see why we even bother.

Yes, but we wont give up. The economy is slowly getting better. We should be able to do something about it. I think we are valueable for this country.

Somehow the treatment doesn't match upto it. Ironically, they call it US department of "justice"

Anyway, folks, whose lawyers attend this meeting, ask your lawyers to ASK INS next time, .. when the hell will 485 be a priority.

People who have filed 485 are already here right

How will a security check now help?

Basically this is how the government works everywhere. You cannot stop the real trouble makers this way and people in the government will be the last to understand that.

The bottom line is life is good here. Let's be a little patient. We'll get through this.

SM : I would like to add to your question. When the hell will it be a priority to why the hell is it not a priority? Is a 2 year backlog not enough to wake you up. Will it be a priority when the heap of paperwork starts falling on your head?

How come other centers are approving the same time u guys are sleeping? CSC is become the worst center from being one of the best. Shame on CSC!!

Behind every dark cloud there is a silver lining

Guys, keep your hopes cos behind every dark cloud there is a silver lining........
One day the sun will shine.......and we will all get to see the sun soon........

INS & FBI (lack of) cooperation

The independent audit of the treatment of 9/11 detainees
offers a fascinating glimpse of the inner workings of the
INS -- and the poor response by the FBI to requests for security
checks.

Also highlights the "enormous challenges and difficult circumstances" faced by the INS post-9/11. Kind of makes one
understand the poor response to routine immigration
applications.
