more about background check

Just got back from Dallas local office this morning. Since I called TSC several times, got no result, I decided to go to local office asking for status. I was told my 485 case is pending for backgroud check. The interesting thing is I phoned FBI one week ago. FBI told me my fingerprint and name check were finished 6 months ago. What else should background check include? That officer in local office won't like to talk. Please share your experience.

I140-niw approved 07/2004
I485 RD 08/2004 FP 04/2005 LUD 07/19/2005
 
If you have email/fax from them that ur name check is cleared. u may compose a letter, attach that paper and send to TSC.


Plz do share detail of ur phone call about FP and name check, many of us have understanding that they stoped long ago to give anyone info via phone about name check. did they specify ur name check clearance on phone?

POJ, Thanks again for your experience. I don't have any email/fax from FBI. When you call FBI, they only tell the status on the phone. Here are phone number: for FP call 304-625-5590. For name check call 202-324-2399. I may just be lucky. A very nice lady answered my phone. She asked my name and A# and address, then she said it was fininished at FBI. But no more detail from her.

What time of the day did you call the name check number? Everytime I call it goes to the automated voice message.

Hi Guys..

I ve just came back from USCIS office. I made and Infopass appointment to ask why my case is taking longer to be approved than the average of the cases that are being processesing in my Local Office.

They told me that they cannot complete my case in the normal time due my Name check is still pending ( my fingerprints were cleared the same day that i submitted them).

Now its been 3 months since i did my biometrics/fingerprints.


Questions:
1)IS NORMAL THAT THE NAME CHECK IS STILL PENDING 3 MONTHS LATER?
2) WHATS THE AVERAGE TIME TO HAVE YOUR NAME CHECK CLEANED?
3)Since i only have few months in the USA it's still unclear why we need to do a backgroundcheck again that only causes delay in our application...
Does anyone know if our namecheck procedure ( Fingerprints/ biometrics) is different from the visa namecheck at the NVC?
