Mistakenly 'Consular Processing' selected in I-140 - what to do now?

Hello Gurus,

when filing my I-140, I filled some of the application and left some for the lawyer. I don't know if it was my company or the lawyer who selected 'Consular Processing' as the next step after I-140. I didn't realize that until this minute, when heard the good news for EB3 category? (My 140 was cleared in Sep 05 and PD is Mar 2003, EB3)
My lawyer is trying to find out how to convert my Consular processing application to I-485 Adjustment of Status?
Meanwhile can u experts tell me how hard it is to convert from CP to I-485? Is it worth it? I married and my wife is on H1B now. (It will be nice to have 485 for both).
If at all my lawyer comes back and say, it is going to be tough..what should I do? Just try to continue with CP process hoiping I may get GC faster without 485? All my happy moments in the morning are disappearing now? Any ideas/ suggestions?

Thanks.

Switching from Consular Processing to Adjustment of Status
All you have to do is just file Adjustment of Status application with USCIS. As USCIS already has your original petition, they will take care of everything and you don't need to do anything else.

If you have already started your consular processing, as a matter of courtesy, you should inform the consulate that you have decided to switch to adjustment of status. You should also inform the NVC about the same, as it helps them to streamline their file storage.

Thanks
