Mistake on N400 Selective Service question

Hi,

Just realised I've made a mistake on my N400 application - which has already been sent!

I was just looking through it and realised I checked the wrong box for the selective service question...I've accidentally ticked NO, when I should have ticked YES and supplied the details!!

I did sign up, and have the details.....but now what do I do to make sure this doesn't effect the application? Should I phone and try to add the details to my application? Not sure what to do :(

Thanks in advance for a helping hand!

This is a relatively minor issue that can be corrected during the interview (and in any case it is impossible for you to correct your N-400 over the phone). Bring the evidence of your Selective Service registration to the interview. During the interview the IO will go over the N-400 line-by-line with you to check that any information needs to be updated and/or corrected. You can correct the answer to the Selective Service question then.

Thanks very much for that.

Do I need to request an actual letter or certificate as proof? Or can I just provide the number and date I registered?

You need to provide actual documentation of registration. If you have a letter from Selective Service confirming your registration, bring that.

If not, go to the Selective Service site https://www.sss.gov/RegVer/wfVerification.aspx
where you can check your registration status online. Perform that online check and then print-out the screen showing that you are indeed registered, and bring that print-out to the interview.
