Mistake on I-485 form

When I filled the I-485 form and gave it to my lawyer for filing, I did a mistake of filling mother's first name with maiden name. I realised the error few months after the laywer filed I-485. I asked my lawyer about it and he told me that he will notify BCIS at the appropiate time, possibly when RFE is issued.

Does any one think it is the right approach. Should I notify BCIS about the error on my own without waiting for them to find it. My other concern is, what if BCIS approves my case without noticing it and it stays that way for ever and create problems at the time of taking citizenship.

Could someone please advice.

DOn't think it's a serious problem though. I think this kind of error is quite common that a person with common sense should understand. You can fix it during stamping too. Correcting it now w/o RFE, might be as good as not notifying them at all, as the info is more likely to get ignored/ lost along the paper pushing route.

I know several friends (mostly chinese) who got their OWN first/last name switched in GC and practically got no problems at all. Sometimes they just gotta learn to live with it.

Relax!!!;)

Yes, Dao is correct...it doesnot matter much as a matter of fact you might not even get RFE on this. Also this is not a serious matter..and I do not think you need to contact BCIS for this..

contact them

maybe that will lead to some thing happening with your file. i for one would contact them:D
