mistake in my SEVIS data

Hi all,

I would like to get advise if someone know what to do in my case.

I was planning to go back to my home country but I am stuck.

First, I used to obtain J-1 visa and changed status to F-1 in the US.
So my passport doesn't have a valid F-1 visa stamp, that's why I was planning to go Japan and get F-1 visa stamp.

Then I found out my SEVIS status was terminated by mistake.
My International Student Adviser told me that was because I reported my address-change (AR-11) through online by myself. The person who controls and checks SEVIS accidentally terminated my SEVIS instead of changing my address.

My ISA called SEVIS system and they told her they would fix within a few days and they did it. They activated my SEVIS system, however, according to my ISA, it says "application of changing status has been denied" in the bottom of my SEVIS data.

My ISA again called SEVIS system and requested to correct it since my application was approved in AUG 2006. Otherwise, how could I get my SEVIS status active???

My question is,

If I leave the US without correcting, would it be a high risk when I apply for the F-1 visa stamp? Should I wait in the US to get fixed? Or can I wait to get fixed in my home country, leaving the US with wrong SEVIS record?

The first mistake only took a few days as SEVIS officer said so, but this time they didn't let my ISA know how long it's gonna take. And it's been 3 business days since my ISA contacted to SEVIS.

I am desperate for any help since I want to leave asap, my best wedding is on next Sunday.... I missed my two cousins' weddings....

Thanks in advance.
