Am a Dv 2008 winner from Kenya. I joined this forum in May 2008 after waiting for my 2nd notification and almost giving up when i posted the first thread asking when to expect the interviews alot of people gave me hope. but this could have never prepare me for the nightmare i had during the interview.
June 2008 learned that my case is current and schedule for interview August 5 by this time my passport was not ready because of an error that was in my national ID or so i was told by the immigration department
July 20 went for my medicals which came out well
towards the interview date I realised that the passport will not be ready in time and that my police certficate came out with the same error in my National ID card and also I did not have any evidence of support but an email from a fried in the USA promising to host me.

i tried calling the embassy to postpone the interview for a whole week in vain so i wrote them an email postponing the same.

August 4 the day before the interview I got through the US embassy in Nairobi explained why i needed to change my interview but they told me it will not be possible

Hurried home and picked my documents and went all the way to Nairobi reaching there 9.30PM after covering more than 200km. the interview was scheduled for 8am. I slept that day without my birth certificate, passport, evidence of support, medicals and still woke up to go for the interview.

INTERVIEW DAY; My birth certificate was at the immigration department so I went to collect it at exactly late this is where i learned that nothing has being done in processing my passport and activated the process. hurried off to pick my medicals and arrived at the embassy about 9.30am one and a half hours late. waited for my chance when i got to the counter I didi not have copies of my documents, my pictures were faulty plus i did not have a passport. however no evbidence of support was required.
i was told to reschedule my interview through phone but on reaching the second gate i wqas summoned back to the embassy told to pay and wait for my interview.

went through the interview but was asked to bring my passport and copies of my documents any day at 1pm.
22 august 2008. brought my passport luckily with no errors and copies of my docs
3-9-2008 collected my visa and package.
iI have posted the above just to encourage anybody who may find him/herself in sucxh a mess as I was in mot to give up, trust me I nearly did. organise yourself early but when things dont work dont give up. Thanks all people who contribute to this irreplaceable forum, I shall continue to post and hopefully help others.

Great story,

I agree with you that giving up is a loss.
Hope others could learn from your experience to challenge their own situation that similar to yours.

You are a winner of giving up.

This is GOD and there is just nothing HE cannot do... GOD is in TOTAL control!!!

I'm inspired by your story!!! Thanks for posting it.[/QUOT

I am challenged by your story. God is good all the time and He wants you to get the visa you will whatever the circumstance. I cannot believe you walked to the embassy without your passport and you got the visa. Powers of the heavenly Father. Am so happy for you. You must have met a very kind understanding person at the interview. Glory to God.

Congrats what a great fight,am also from Kenya aluta continua on my side though i'm almost through with ma docs apart from the police cert which i think i will it take next year as my cn is for next year

GOD is in control

Thanks for the replies. I must agree to all those who have said God was on my side, indeed HE was and am ever thankful for it. Am proud of those who are already preparing early and encourage those in Kenya that Nairobi embassy staff are the most cooperative lot I have ever met no matter what you may ave heard of them in the past, right from the security guards to the consular officers they are doing a great job.
