Missing original birth & marriage certificate - have copies...

My parents have their green card interview next week. They have copies of their birth certificate & marriage certificate but misplaced the originals.

We have been searching but can't find them. If we need to get the originals they will need to go back to India and get them. Unfortunately, they wont be able to make it back in time. How important is it to have the originals?
 
If the interviewer demands the originals, their case will be delayed until they get the originals. Did they overstay before applying for the green card, and do they have Advance Parole?

Are the originals at their house in India? Somebody could go into the house and send the certificates to them by Fedex/UPS/DHL. Otherwise if the originals are completely lost, they'll have to request new originals from the issuing authorities in India.

Are they from Chennai,, if so we can print the certified copies from online. I recently
did that and requested for the supervisor to review and it was approved as original.
