Missed the fingerprinting interview

I was out of town when I received my letter for the fingerprinting and the appointment date was within 6 days as well so I missed the appointment. I sent the application back with a request for rescheduling the appointment. I am a little concerned because the application said "if you do not appear for the interview or reschedule it, the application will be considered abandoned". Does it mean that I should have rescheduled it before the appointment date ? Has anyone rescheduled the appointment for fingerprinting ? Any information will be helpful.

Thanks in advance

This isn't good, I heard they can consider this to be an abandonment of your application and can/may deny it.

I also read somewhere on this board that you can just show up as long as it was within a few days of your missed appointment time and try and see if they will let you do it. Also, you may want to call the USCIS and see if there is anything you can do to maybe setup another date and time.

I would try and show up in person (asap) like right now and see if they will do it. If not, immediately call USCIS and try and get them to help you out.

Yes, you should usually reschedule the appointment BEFORE the date. How long are you passed your fingerprinting date?

No, actually missing a fingerprint appointment is not that bad. There have been a few posts on this already. I think there is a particular day of the week they'd like you to come back. Your best bet is to go to the application service center, tell them what happened and see if they take your fingerprints there and then or make you come back a few days later. I don't think there is need to panic. Well, perhaps you need to panic a bit because it seems you sent your fingerprint appointment letter back. Did you make a photocopy of it?

So take our advice and go to the application support center and tell them what happened to you.

My 2 cents.

I sent the application back because it said that the entire application along with the bottom portion must be sent back for rescheduling and checking on a day (either wednesday or Saturday). I checked both days. I even wrote a covering letter explaining why I had missed it. My appointment date was 17th, I returned from vacation on 19th and sent my reply back to them on 20th. I photocopied the letter and the application and sent it via certified mail to CIS Oakland. Should I be calling USCIS or the fingerprinting office ?
