Missed my interview appointment....Help Please!!!
Hi all,
This is my first posting on this forum.
I had applied for the N400 at Cherry hill NJ, on the 4th of june 2003. My final citizenship interview was scheduled for 16th of august 2004.
Unfortuantely I was in India in the months preceding the appointment date and never got the mail. The processing dates for cherry hill advanced by almost 2 months between 15th july and 11th august and somehow I just happened to miss the notice for the interview.
I came back to the US on the 17th of august and visited the local office on the 23rd to enquire about the case, as from the processing dates it appeared that my interview should be really close. Unfortuanely the clerk at the information desk at the Cherry Hill office are extremely unhelpful and only told me the computer showed that my case was still being processed.
I received the letter from the local office on the 29th of august, dated 17th august, informing me that I had missed the appointment and I needed to explain the reason. (I wonder how this did not come up on the computer on the 23rd when I was there).
I gave the written explanation to the office and requested them to re-schedule the appointment on 3rd of sept.
Since then I have visited the local office twice both times to be turned away without they even checking the status on the computer. The last time I asked them to atleast check the exact address that they had for me on the file and the clerk could not bring it up with my A-number. They never bothered to see why my address would not come up when they entered the green card 'A' number.
The national customer service center does have the right address for me and initiated an enquiry for me to the local office on the 30th of sept., but I still haven't heard anything from the cherry hill office.
Do any of you know how long does it typically take to rescedule a missed appointment and is there anything I can do to get the status of my case from the local office? What I really want to know is if they have already put me back in the queque and just how far back I am, i.e. some sort of estimated time as to when can I expect my interview to be held.
