Missed H1B FY-2006 quota. Alternatives ?

Hello,
Just heard about the news that H1b for FY2006 reached its limit on August 10th 2005. I got a job confirmed from an employer on April 11th and maybe my appn was filed (for H-1B) on the same day (not sure though), could be on 12th. Now that I know the quota has completed I was looking for the following option:

My employer has branch offices in U.K. and other parts of europe. It's not a consulting company, but a proper s/w develpment firm. I'm currently in U.K. on a student status (graduating Sept 2005) and I'm thinking of joining either the U.K. or europe branch by October 2005.
After a few weeks time, I'm planning to go on a B1 and eventually apply for a H-1b for FY 2007 (starting October 1 2006). I was earlier working in U.S in the year 2002 and have been out since then (so there is a gap of three years) and my old H-1b has been expired early 2004.

Now my question is, if I enter US (possibly multiple times) with a B1 visa, between Oct 2005 and Aug/Sep 2006, will I still be eligible to apply for H-1b for FY 2007 (with a start date of Oct 1 2006)?
Also is there any minimum time frame between multiple entries to US on a B1 visa ? i.e, once I exit out of US, should I stay out for any duration before re-entering on the same B1 visa ?
And finally, is there any similar time frame between B1 exit and H-1b entry ?

Any reply will be highly appreciated.

thanks.
