Missed FP appointment

Okay I\'m an idiot, I misread 2/26/02 as 2/28/02 and so missed my FP appointment by 2 days. I immediately sent the request for rescheduling which the local ASC recieved on 3/1. A couple of questions....

1) Is this a total disaster, i.e. is my application really abandoned because I didn\'t show up, or will they reschedule me...??

2) My appintment was at the Hartford, Connecticut ASC - does anyone have any experience with this office that might be relevant..??

and..

3) Does anyone know of a phone # for the Hartford, CT ASC...? It\'s not on the FP notice, nor anywhere on the INS website....are they trying to be awkward or what.

I mailed my FP reschedule notice in January. Did not get a new notice yet. Please let me know if you find anything about your situation. Thanks.

Reschedule ! I have a better idea!

I think you should go to the ASC personally and explain to them the situation. You should carry a copy of the request for reschedule and a copy of the original PF notice. Some ASC\'s will honor your request and let you do the Fingerprinting. Good luck.(Remember rescheduling the FP will unnecesarily delay the process for 3-6 mnths or even more).

go and try now , I spoke to my lawyer about this since i am expecting my FP any time now and will be out of country for a month . He told me if you can\'t make on scheduled date then go on any wednesday with in 90 day and get it done after 90 days 485 will be assumed abandoned .

Thanks for that info. A question about the 90 day limit though - when does this 90 day period begin...?? is it 90 days from the original FP appointment...???

Also, let\'s say - worst case scenario - that my I-485 is assumed abandoned after 90 days - can I just file another 485 straight away, I mean my I140 will ne unaffected right...??

yes it begins from date of FP appointment , if FP is not done by that deadline then you will have to file fresh 485 application . I140 is not affected at all by this .

but why to take trouble and waste money of refiling I485 go and get you FP done man....

I\'m not planning on refiling the I485, just imagining the worst case scenario if I don\'t get rescheduled in time or if they wont FP me on a walk in basis. My experiences with INS over the past 6 years do not leave me overly optimistic about any situation with them. I will go to the Hartford ASC and just see if they will do it anyway - it seems from many of the posts that Wednesday\'s are make up days in many offices and would be the best day to go. Has anyone tried a walk-in at Hartford..../????

FP reschedule notice recived/mail forwarding

Well my faith in the INS has been partly restored - I received a reschedule notice in the mail yesterday for an April 3rd appointment. No reschedule notice for my wife though, but I\'ll give it a couple of days. I was definitely surprised by the speed of the turnaround at the Hartford ASC, especially given some of the dalys people on these boards have reported with FP rescheduling. Here are the case details FYI...

April 3 2001 - filed EB2 petition
Sept 25 2001 - I140 approval
Nov 9 2001 - receipt date for I485 (priority date Nov 9)
Early January 2002 (don\'t remeber exact date) - received EAD card and AP papers for myself and my wife.
Jan 17 - notioce date for FP appointment (appointment date Feb 26)
Feb 28 - stupid me misses appointment by 2 days, sends rescedule request overnight to Hartford ASC, which they recieve March 1.
March 14 - recieved rescheduled FP notice for appointment on April 3.

Incidentally, there seems to have been much discussion throughout this board about whether the post office will forward letters from the INS when there has been an address change. In the past 2 months the INS has sent (for my wife and myself) EAD cards and advance parole papaers, as well as my initial and rescheduled FP notice to my old address, ALL of which have been forwarded to our new address by the US mail. Hope this helps those in simliar situations.
