Minor's OCI born in US

Is the photocopy of US birth certificate accepted for minor's OCI application in Houston, TX or they need original.

If they take only original, do they give it back later.

Does anybody have any idea.

I don't have the answer to your question, but when I applied for my OCI I wasn't asked for any originals, only certified copies.
