Minor Traffic Tickets for N-400

I have few ideas regarding traffic tickets (for speeding etc) that
didnt result in an arrest.

(1) USCIS wont know about it because no fingerprints were taken so it wont show up when USCIS do their checks.

(2) If you put them on the N-400 application you have to provide proof. Even then the application may get delayed because it might confuse the USCIS. They may even request for more evidence thus delaying it even further.

(3) The USCIS will find out only if you put them in the application. If they find out, then you are potentially giving them a reason to deny the application because of lack of moral character.

My conclusion after reading all the relevant posts is its better not to report the minor traffic tickets because it may delay your application unneccessarily. Also, the only way USCIS has of knowing about it is if you volunteer this information.

What do others think? Thanks!
 
Technically You must report all traffic tickets. If you dont want to check that box that asks you if you were arrested ... etc then write a separate note about your tickets and attach it to your N400. Simple traffic tickets (non DUI/ non reckless) will not harm you
 
Traffic Ticket turned into warrant.

Thought my case is similar to DUI. Couple of weeks ago, I missed the court date for traffic violation. Judge issued the warrant. I called after few days to find out what happened to my traffic violation ticket. They explained about the warrant and said I have to go to police station and pay the bail amount which was $300. I went to police station, I paid $300 to bail myself off. (Basically, to get my name off the system). It was not actually arrest since I went myself to police station but at police station they treated the whole situation like they are arresting me and bail me off. They took my pic and detail information like name, address, where I born and etc. etc....My question is now when next time when I have to fill any form like DS156 where there is a question 'have you ever been arrested/convicted' what should I note...Yes or NO ????
 
From what you say - you were arrested, just not handcuffed/put in jail. Speak to the judge that ordered the arrest to see if this can can be expunged. Even so you have to report the matter on the N400
 
More on tickets

My wife had two tickets - one running stop sign (paid fine), the other driving through a red light (went to driving school).

We didn't put anything on N400 about that.

I'm guessing we should carry with us to interview (if she ever gets one) all info on this, in case they ask or it comes up.

She was not arrested, so I didn't think it applied.

Does that sound reasonable?

Is this going to be a huge problem?

BTW, will I be able to accompany her to her interview?

I received a traffic ticket (speeding) but went to driving school to get it off my record. I did not mention it on my N-400 as it was never put on my driving record.
Should I mention it when I go for my interview, whenever that might be?

Can someone tell me an example where someone was denied citizenship because he/she didn't report a speeding ticket?
 
I have gone throught my citizenship interview recently. I had couple of tickets (speeding no DUI or anything like that) which I listed on my application and provided certified copies of the ticket and payment for them. The officer who iterviewed me seemd only interested in proof of payment. After the interview I was give the form N-652 saying congratulations you have been recomended for approval. He did say that my application still has to approved by a suprevisor because of the tickets but told me not to lose too much sleep over it because in his words even if you get a parking ticket the suprevisor would have to approve the case. Anyone have any idea if this suprevisor approval is something to worry about?

I've been in this country for 11 years,
When I started my first job in 1996, I used to travel from city to city.
At times I would fly to Boston....cover cities all the way down to Miami driving and then fly back....
I had my share of speeding tickets..every one has been taken care of..but now I don't even remember what states I got them in...

What do I do???
 
I got conflicting info. Once INS guy said you should detail all your traffic violations. Today while asking something else the lady in INS replied the N-400 guide says minor traffic violations need not be reported. The attorney who did my Green Card says it is better to declare the minor traffic violations. I had several speeding tickets,running a stop sign etc in michigan. Same here in tx now. But in tx I took defensive driving class to avoid it going on my driving record.

Any thoughts on should I report this on N400 or not?

Hi,

I had one traffic ticket too for changing lane without giving indicator. I got the ticket in 2000 and paid fine and took defensive driving .

I have not put it on my N400 application.(DO-> dallas) Actually I totally forgot about it and just remembered 2 days back after reading all the traffic tickets related posts on this forum.

Can I or the officer make changes to the N400 during the interview. I mean when the officer goes over all the questions, can I tell him/her that I have a traffic ticket and the N400 needs to be changed to reflect that ?

I dont have a copy of the ticket and nor saved any proof of payment. So what evidence do I need to show to prove that it was not DUI/DWI or reckless driving and that the ticket(fine) was paid in time.

Seeking advice/ideas from you all. My interview date is next week...!!!(first week Feb 2005 in Dallas TX).
