I am a GC Holder since 3 years. I got married a month ago and my husband is in India. Considering how long it takes for sponsoring a spousal GC, I have planned on getting my citizenship and then sponsoring him. I have 2 years more to apply for citizenship. I plan to travel back to forth to US for the remainder of 2 years. My question is
1. If I go to India for 5 months and then stay in US for a month then go back again for another 5 months, would I be able to retain my GC.
2. How much time should I stay in US before I can again travel back to India for another 5 months.
Please advise.

1. yes
2. requirement for citizenship is a total of 30 months in last five years, with no trip exceeding six months.

Normally, permanent resident means one who would be staying in US for majority of time, with no intent to abandon the status. I think things like property in US, paying taxes promptly, and any kind of wages in US are beneficial in proving that. Good luck.
