hey guys, i am new to the forum but have been reading around with other peoples experiences. i am not sure where to exactly post this but if i did post it in the wrong section then hopefully the mod can change that. alright here it goes, and any suggestion is welcome.
my story.
i had come to the united states when i was about 7 and had done all my schooling in the US and i will be in my 4th year of college but what worries me is my immigration status. in the eyes of the government i am still a non-immigrant. my parents came here as a visitor and didnt know much about the immigration process and me being that young had no idea what was going on, as the years progresses i had no need to question my status and what not cause it wasnt a necessity but as i am going to join the work force, i am seriously hindered by my status.
fortunately my mothers brother had filed for her and that puts us as 4th preference in the family-sponsored petition and she had filed a while back in 97 and the time is coming up where we can file for adjustment of status but thats under my mothers name. to me that does not sound like a remedy for my name. i understand after she gets her documents she can file for me, but thats going to take more time. right now, i need to find a means to start getting my life in order in respect to immigration status. if this story sounds like any1 here please shed some light on how you went about the situation and how did you overcome it. this has been a sensitive issue for some time now and i finally had the courage to seek out for some help. thank you all in advance. ::sigh:: of relief.
