I am new to this forum.

I am in the process of filing I-140/I-485 soon . I would like to know the INS approved doctors in the RTP area.? How long to take the appointment ? Is it OK to do the medical checkup in some other state like GA( Atlanta) ?

Thanks for the help....

hi

I was in the same boat sometimes ago....of what I understand you can get the medical anywhere in the country as long as the doctor is ins civil surgeon/physician and does these "INS EXams" routinely. The INS site has a phone number you can call which will give you the list of designated doctors in the area you seek (for many their phone numbers are included, but not for all). Make sure you call these doctors in advance and ask them if they have the original medical exam forms and the supplemental vaccination forms (most do). Ask them for their fee...it varies ie if you need no vaccinations (anywhere form 110-250) and if you do need vaccs...depending on your age and previous immunizations...(anywhere from 150-maybe upwards of 300??) . Call a few and mine was done the next day I called . I stopped by again in 2 days tp have my TB read and pick up the sealed envelope. Although the test results ie HIV, RPR and vaccs history are going to be in the sealed envelope however, the doctor should give you a copy of everything enclosed (they should not have any problem in giving you a copy of all that is enclosed...so check that before hand. Do yourself a favor and be certain the physician fills out your correct info ie spelling of your complete name, address, and sex (my guy checked female for sex (should have been male)..I noticed after I got home in the copies provided to me...stopped by the next day with their sealed envelope which they opened..made the correction...and everything was enclosed in a new sealed envelope. BTW, if applicable do get the flu shot as of what I have heard some people tried to do without it and even though the doctor checked for a waiver on the form...INS asked that the person get a flu shot (not personal experience but seemed outrageous to me). BTW flu shot is only 15 bucks! (and yes, not if you are allergic to eggs my friend!)
PS: also see that your address is your Raleigh address on the forms (ie the one that appears on your 140/485 and not Atlanta, GA add. ...for the sake of consistency)
