In form DS156 it is asked "Have you ever been afflicted with a communicable disease of public health significance" If the answer is yes, does it require additional medical tests? The only information I can find on the issue is regarding immigrant visas and related medical tests. Nothing related to non-immigrant visas.

Was diagnosed with TB 5 years ago while in the US. Completed treatment as recommended and got a letter from county health department stating treatment is completed. Have had X-rays after that, all negative.

I am trying to find out if anyone has had a similar case having to answer yes on Q 38 and has got their visa stamped. According to the new CDC guidelines for overseas medical exams, sputum cultures are required. These take 2 months. Is the county letter sufficient proof of being free of the disease or are additional medical tests required? I additional tests are required I may not be able travel since I only have 3 weeks of vacation.

If anyone has got their visa stamped successfully after such a condition please post your response. I am unable to find anything related to non-immigrant visas in this regard.
