Medical Examination Question

I have a couple of questions about medical examination.

1) At what stage do we have to undergo medical examination - before I140 or I-485?

2) If the GC applicant's spouse is pregnant at the time of medical exam and not able to take the immunization will it in anyway delay the whole GC process?

Thanks,
Udai

HERE IS THE DETAILS

if you are filing for concurrent I 140 AND 485 you need to doa medical Exam. If the spouse is pregenent the Dr will take only blood test and TB skin test and will write in medical form that applicant is pregenent .

You need only 2 vaccines mainly tentnus and MMR

Medical Examination is needed for I-485 filing. If the applicant is pregnant, the doctor will put a note in the application and the applicant is required to take it at a later stage, mostly during the approval times frame. There is no problem in this.

Medical Exam Costs and Time Involved

Dear Senthil, Votex and Other Members,

In general, how much does medical exam cost and can all tests (TB skin, Blood and Vaccination) be done in one visit?

Senthil mentioned only MMR and Tetanus are required, but on the vaccination list shown on immigration website, i also saw Polio, Pertussis, Influenzae B, and Hepatitis B. Are those not required any more?

Also, I heard the BCIS designated doctor could be more expensive than the regular ones. Some people suggest to go to your own doctor first to get al these required tests and vaccination done before going to teh BCIS designated doctor to minimize the cost. What is your experience in that?

Finally, the Medical Exam report will be valid until I-485 is approved vs. only 1 year validity, effective January 2005. Is this correct?

Many Thanks.

meical exam follow up questions

Unitednations,

Thanks for your kind reply. It seems you have gone through the medical exam already, haven't you?

1)would you confirm what vaccinations are reqired?

2)also, it sounds like even though the extension of validity of the exam will not go into effect until 2005 officially, in practice, they are already doing so. have they been extending it till your I-485 is approved?

Thanks for sharing your experience.

Unitednation, the link does not work

Unitednations,

my wife was pregnent

When we took the test, she was pregnent. It was simple. The doc. saw the current vacination reports and filled in whatever he could and wrote a note that she is pregnent and will do rest of the tests later. She already got an EAD and AP so I guess this was not an issue at all.

Overall it costs - $80 physical, $40-50 per vaccine or test ( TB test). So about $300 per person.

medical exam

United Nations or Others,

I would like to file I-485 asap, therefore, wondering if I can submit medical exam forms later. I want to file I-485 soon so the 180-day clock under AC21 can start sclicking, however, i read somwhere 180 day starts clicking upon receipt of a COMPLETE application. therefore, if i submit the i-485 without medical, it may not help me, is this correct? Thanks.

Medical

I did not submit medical with my I-140/I-485. It does not affect any time you accrue waiting for approvals. My lawyer said they will ask for it when they need it. So don't worry about it.

medical exam insurance reimbursement

For those who have done medical exam, did your immigration exam physician file insurance for your exam costs (physical, vaccination etc.)? If not, are you able to claim insurance on your own. I called a couple immigration exam physician and was told they do not get involved with insurance and that i may or may not be able to claim the expenses from the insurance company as the receipt would say "immigration physical exam". i would think this is legitimate expense for insurance as it is a regular physical check up.pls share your experience.

Usually, this is an expense you will have to incur on your own. CIS physician will, more likely than not, not file insurance for you. You can put in a claim yourself, but it may be denied since it was not a medical necessity that led to that physical exam and immunization. There might be exceptions that I am not aware of.
