Hello,

My PD has become current as of june visa bulletin and I am eligible to apply for I-484. But currently I am expecting and hence I may not be able to take all the medical exams (X-Rays etc..). Can I still apply for 485 and complete the medical exam later or do they need the complete medical report when I apply for I-485. I would appreciate if anybody can share any info in this regard. Thanks.

Hopeful - i read in another thread that it is not compulsary to enclose Medical certs with the I-485 application. However, in that scenario, you will receive an RFE from INS requesting your medical sometime later..which will basically delay your process.

hopeful4GC,

I would normally say (like labor_headache) that not including medicals would be Okay, just be prepared to receive RFE about them later, which would delay your case somewhat. However, I've just read about tjoy's experience at http://boards.immigrationportal.com/showthread.php?t=250227, whose case got denied "due to abandonment" because of the missing medicals. That shouldn't have happened, but maybe it's a new procedure... So, I'd say - do the medicals and spare yourself potential trouble. Good luck!

I know someone almost in the same situation as you are.
She is scheduled for medicals next week, I will update after her checkup.

Thanks.

You are required to take Xray only if your TB skin test comes positive. I got my and my wife's medical done today. Here's what all they did.

1. Asked us to fill out a medical history form.
2. Took blood sample for HIV test
3. Injected TB test liquid just below the top skin on the hand. We need to go back in 48 hours to see if we have any reaction (hence confirming if we carry active/passive TB).
4. My wife has to take Titenus vaccine, since Titenus is valid only for 10 years, and she took one in 1985!

That's it. Only if TB skin tests are positive, you have to worry about Xray. As long as your OB/GYN okays the HIV blood draw and TB Skin test, you should not be poked, punctured or pictured :)

X-ray and TB test

I have simimar question here. My TB test is 6mm and considered to be negative by my nurse, but positive by the USCIS guidelines. Due to pregnancy, I can't do X-ray right now. The doctor said that he will hold my examination forms and give back to me after I finish the X-ray. It seems like that I can't send the 485 because I don't have the medical examination. I heard that sb sent the form out anyway without X-ray done, got the RFE later for X-ray and then did it. Does anybody have similar experience? Thanks.

Thanks for all the responses and just wanted to update my info so that it may be beneficial to others. I got the medicals done last week. The doctor did only the physical and blood work. he said he would not be doing any TB tests and vaccinations. he still gave me the medical report indicating what was done and why other tests were missing.

According to the info, I received from my company, they said I can submit this medical report while applying for I-485. As others suggested, I would be getting an RFE and at that point of time, I can go and get the remaining tests done. Hope it works out. Good luck and thanks to all.

Wait a minute, he did not give you the Tb skin test!? That is an absolute must, you will for sure get an RFE asking you to take it. Unless he filled in the paperwork to say you took it and it was negative? Weird.

NEVER MIND, I JUST NOTICED YOU SAID YOU'RE EXPECTING. CONGRATULATIONS:D
