Thanks a lot. Another follow up question - where do we get the info about the INS approved facility? Does anyone know of one in NoVA area?

2) Would I need to get immunizations and medical done prior to filing I140, 485? I remember reading on this forum that the medical is valid for a short time (6mnths -1 year)

Hi Friend,

You need to enclose Sealed envelope of your medical report prepared by INS approved doctor. You can go to www.immigration.com and look for the link "List of INS Approved Physicians" to get approved INS doctors list. In that look for doctors near to your place.

You need get the immunization and Medical examinations done before I-140/485. These two results will be reported on a I-693 and sealed by the INS doctor.

If you have time go to your PCP get MMR,Tenatus & Diphtheria(DPT),HIV,Tuberculosis(if it swells they will take chest x ray), Hepatitis B, Varicella, influenza type b. Do it with your PCP only if they are covered under your insurance. Also it will take some time for these tests, reports etc. Then with all these reports and I-693 form. Then INS approved doctor will do remaining Medical exams and after looking at your other tests reports he/she will fill test results on I-693 and will seal it in cover. That you need to enclose along with I-485 application ok. This way the INS approved physician might charge from 100-150$ only.

The medical examination results are valid till 1 year i think.

If you have to file I-485 immediately though it is expensive go to INS approved physician they will do all the tests but they might charge between 250-350$.
