medical clearance- civil surgeon wont sign off on medical clearance yet

My husband went into civil surgeon today. He got a tetanus shot and MMR. The civil surgeon then said he required a booster of MMR in one month, but told him he would not sign off on the medical clearance form until he has the second booster. That will be late March, when our interview is mid April.

Apart form him not wanting a second dose of MMR, it also delays us getting our clearances!

I read this (cut and pasted from USCIS website on vaccines):

Q. Certain vaccine series can only be completed with multiple visits to the civil surgeon. Am I required to complete the entire series before the civil surgeon can sign the Form I-693?
A. You are only required to receive a single dose of each vaccine when you visit the civil surgeon. You are encouraged to follow up with your private health care provider to complete the series. Once you have received the single dose appropriate at the time, the civil surgeon can sign and certify the Form I-693.

So I am thinking the civil surgeon is wrong to withhold signing off on his medical clearance in this way, perhaps he is misled or can some civil surgeon's do this?

I plan to print this info out to take when it is my appointment. Does anyone have any info or experience on this?

Thanks

I should add my husband had the xray and blood work today, as well as the physical assessment- and we expected to go back for another appointment in a week or so, to get blood work results etc--but we expected civil surgeon would then sign off on clearance if it all checks out. Not withhold signing off until a month later when my husband gets a second dose of MMR. He is now current for vaccines and will be at next appointment. That's all that medical clearance asks for, not waiting until interview is nearly upon us for boosters.

my husband just called me-after 4 hours at civil surgeon's office-all done. They said they would post docs to him sealed, for us to take to consulate. So this implies to me, the civil surgeon signed medical clearance after all. Though the civil surgeon did tell my husband to come back to their office for booster, and 'implied' the records of the next booster would also be forwarded to consulate.

However I am confused here- if the civil surgeon signed the forms and sealed them to forward to us for consulate interview, did he give his clearance? This I am certain of but the process, as told to me by my husband, confused us both. And if so, why would civil surgeon be sending any follow up info to consulate regarding a booster shot? Surely the consulate only look at medical clearance and not as to whether we followed up with our boosters 4 weeks later?

Little confused or feeling misled in any case.

Given what is there to gain and loose, I would get the medical records of what this civil surgeon has done already, print another fresh I693 and have it completely done BY ANOTHER CIVIL SURGEON and handed over to me in a sealed envelop with copies for my records. I would give the new civil surgeon all the medical records of what has been done already...and let them know that i need this done and by this time. It's one thing to deal with the DV process gray areas where we don't know what happens next but another thing to tolerate a civil surgeon who is either inexperienced and unfamiliar with the process, or he is just stubborn.

But that's just me...I like ensuring that I cross all my t's and dot all my i's as long as they are within my reach. If one civil surgeon cannot meet my deadlines and hand me over what I need by the time I need it, I will pay another one to do the job as long as I have what I need to have by interview date...not a long story to tell the consulate. The reason I live like this is coz there are so many things that are out of my control, and for those...then the stories suffices, but a civil surgeon?

Again, just me.

Thanks- that could have worked--however this is the only one civil surgeon in entire state we live in. He's the guy. I think we will try ringing civil surgeon to officially confirm he gave his clearance and that's what is being forwarded to us.When I have my appointment next week I'll get a better idea hopefully.

Hope all works out well

Best wishes. Sorry about the situation....the dude knows he's the only one so thinks he can do whatever pleases him n play around with people's futures.

Sorry to hear about the situation.

Call the office and ask if everything was OK with Test and Results.
My feeling is everything is fine because if something is not then it becomes his duty to let you know to complete all the vaccination and test requirements.

As a courtesy, Civil Surgeon office always makes a copy of the file for client's record; i think as a general rule for all the Civil surgeon visitors, it is a good idea to ask if they would make a copy for you.

Gud Luck

Thank you everyone for your well wishes and responses. We are waiting the civil surgeon's forms to be sent to us in post (sealed copy for consulate, but the extra copy for us). So once we get that and look over the forms,we'll know for sure. We were not sure last week if we got to view the civil surgeon's copy but are feeling more relaxed now learning that we do get a copy, and so we'll know before the CP interview.

I was freaking out on the day bc this civil surgeon was being vague regarding clearance and the boosters.

Cheers :-)
