Not content with charging us for repeat EADs and APs, the BCIS have decided that we should also have to pay for repeat medical exams.

Medical certificates were allowed to remain valid until AOS was adjudicated, however this is about to be rescinded with validity of 1 year being enforced from January 1st 2004.

See the memo in Eli Rich's link.

This actually extends the policy of treating the earlier 1-year validity (no, I had no idea it was 1 year !!) to 'until adjudicated'. The policy had apparently expired on 1/1/2003. It is now extended to 1/1/2004.

Subject to limitations in law, I think they will try to extend the policy once again, up to 1/1/2005 and so on.

This is not negative. On the contrary.

Niladri30 - I hope your speculation proves correct. You are right that is it good that the extension to 2004 has been made, but there are no promises as to further extensions.

i would like to interpret this as

folks who have submitted the medical with 485 application by Jan 2004, can rest assured that the certificate is valid till adjudication.

Another way of interpreting this is

folks who have 485 pending can consider their medical certificate valid till Jan 2004.

hope all this interpretation is unnecessary

Good points neeru!
I would rather go with the first interpretation :)

However, can't agree with the optimisim expressed in the hope that these interpretations may become unnecessary :(
