Regarding an affidavit of support: if you signed I-134 then you don't need to repay anything as it's not binding. If you signed I-864 (if you petitioned for your wife), then you may need to repay some benefits as this document is binding. Also, they sell a wonderful book there (Guide to federal benefits) which is well worth the money if you are considering any public assistance for yourslef or your family.
