I got six notices today in mail (3 for me and 3 for me wife -- 485, EAD and AP)
This is what the notice says :
We have stopped processing this application because the check or money order was returned by the bank.
We will take no further action on this petition until the filing fee and penalties are paid.If we do not receive the payment in full in 30 days then :
Your application or petition will automatically be rejected.

We have already got our EAD\'s approved and the cards are with us...gurus please advice what should we do..

Verify if the check was returned by the bank because of any reason ("insufficient funds" etc). If it was send another check.

But i thought they issue you a receipt after they have encashed the check. And also they did approve the EAD\'s. Will be tensed over the weekend.
 
You should be fine.

It seems that you wrote different checks for 485, EAD and AP. They were able to cash the checks for EAD/AP yet the check for 485 was either bounced back or with incorrect amount. What you should do is to write a letter to explain the situation and rewrite them a check (dont forget the penalty if there is one). I suggest you write checks for each person. That is my experience for your information.
 
AVM says

I just heared the AVM for all the cases and it says payment was received on october 4th for all cases. And also it says that the EAD still remains approved. I don\'t know whats going on and will try and get more details on monday when i speak to me lawyer and try and speak to an IIO.

Weired ways of INS..makes u spend sleepless nights.
 
Don\'t worry.

had a colleague whose I485 checks bounced because of insufficient funds. He re-sent the checks with penalty of $30 per bounced check. he got his I485 approval last month (11 months from notice date), without any rfe.

Spoke to the lawyer

He says it was the bank\'s mistake and they have taken care of it. The ND on this notice was Sept 28 and the AVM was updated on October 4th saying payment was received. Will call the IIO tommorow as they are closed today. Thanks for the support.
 
Spoke to IIO

After waiting for over 1 hr 30 mins finally got through. I told the lady IIO about the notices i got and the AVM says payment received 4th october. She pulled up my case and said that the system is not updated and processing is still stopped. Said..give it a couple of days and call back next week. Also suggested i call the INS debt management center to confirm about the payment.
So called the INS debt management center and confirmed that they had received the payment. Asked them to send the information to INS processing center so that they can start working on our cases and the lady at the debt center said they already have..so i guess i will wait a week and call back again.

I just want to know if you still happen to remember the phone number of INS debt management center since I am currently experiencing the same problem (I had some of my checks returned) and I want to call them up ASAP.
