Hey everyone newbie here. I am currently going through a battle with ICE. I was born in Brazil 1979 and adopted by American born Parents in 1987. In 2002 i was ordered removed and deported for criminal reasons. The immigration agent and judge both stated that i was not a US citizen and that my father never completed the paperwork for me to become a citizen.Fortunately for me the Brazilian consul did not issue travel documents based on human rights issues. I have no family in Brazil nor do I speak the Language and the consul refused to issue travel documents based on that and the fact that i was adopted. My father hired some lawyers and they requested a FOIA on all the immigration documents pertaining to my adoption. The lawyer has contacted me and told me that it looks like my father may have completed and filed my citizenship forms before i was 18. The lawyer stated she needs to research it more, and stated that ICE has sent numerous requests to DC about the same issue. My question(s): How could this have happened? and if it turns out i have been a US citizen this entire time, what do I do next ? Thanks everyone.
