Hi everyone, I have applied for the PR in Oct 2001 and am waiting for the medicals notice to come through sometime this August. I am working in California at present.

However, I may need to go back to my country of origin(India) in the next few weeks for an indefinite period of time due to a family problem. For this, I will have to quit my present job. :( Now I\'m really confused as to what will happen to my canadian GC application ? Will it be transferred to the Canadian consulate in India ? Does anyone know how this will affect my case or does anyone have any experiences like this ?

The only thing I assume is that if my app is still processed at Buffalo, then they will call me for my medicals in the US ? and I will need to come back for that specifically. ( still have ot figure out how I will re-enter the US if my H1B gets revoked due to quitting the job ? ). I am hopeful that I can resolve my family problems by the time I am awarded the canadian permanent residence. But I\'m not sure in what other ways moving back at this stage will impact my whole process ??

Can someone please shed some light on this if possible ?? I am really in complete confusion.

Thank you very much in advance,

Deep

transferring the file to New Delhi could really delay the app.

however there seems to be no way out since the medicals have to be
done in the USA..

Thanks

tt tt, would you know approx. how much the delay would be when I transfer it to New Delhi ? Is there anyone on this board who is processing it via Delhi consulate or knows someone who is doing so ?

So the medicals have to be done in the US, even if I transfer my case ? that means I have to come back here later when I get the medical notice (even if I process it via Delhi). I wish I could get a link or some more info on this. Does anyone know ? Please help.

Thanks for the response, guys.

check the misc.immigration.canada at deja.com for

"file transfer" there have been lots of questions about this at that site

1.5yr to 3yrs

if interview is waived it may take 1.5 yrs otherwise 3+ years
at New Delhi. My brother applied in apr 1999,interviewed in july 2001
still waiting for visa papers.

so once this 1-800 number shuts down...

..how are people like you and me (who are still waiting) supposed to know the status of our apps ? through CAIPS only ? i know its a bit impatient on our behalves to try and find out whats happening before that 40-week time frame, but I\'d still like to know more about the status....any idea ??
