Hey Guys,
I just registered at this forum today though I have been following it since the last one and a half years whenever I get time (which is not very often)
Bajis, as a matter of fact my record is right next to yours in the nairobi... tracker. My ND is one day before yours.
I am a very patient person and never called INS even though it took them 10 months to process my I-140 even though my coworkers got theirs in 2-3 months. But TSC has sorely tested even my patience as far as I-485 goes.
I have been reading here that a lot of 2001 filers got their FP scheduled after calling INS and talking to IIOs. I called for the first time in end of Nov 2002 but got the standard "Still processing Nov 2000 cases" reply.
My lawyer called them in Jan this year and as a result, 2 of my coworkers with NDs in Mar-Aug 2001 timeframe got their FP notices. My lawyer then talked to another IIO who asked her to fax them a list of all her (my lawyer's) pending 2001 cases. Mine was included in the list but no FPs resulted from that. One or two people got theirs but only when they also talked to IIOs individually.
So I decided to call TSC. I have to take a day or half a day off to do this since I can't call them from work. So I called them last Tuesday and after re-dialling maybe a few hundred times I got through but the IIO was so rude and said that FP scheduling is automated and she can't do anything. She said "DON'T CALL INS". When your time comes, your FP will be automatically scheduled. STOP calling INS. Well, duh.. I had called only the second time and after a gap of 2 months between the calls.
Never mind, I took a day off today and tried calling them again. Got thru at the end of the day but talked to a nice IIO. But unfortunately she said that she is only an operator and she can't schedule an FP. I told her my lawyer had talked to one who said she could and my lawyer had faxed the details... she said that she could only send an email to the respective unit and put in an enquiry on why it hasn't been scheduled. Don't know if that is going to help any... what do you think?
I asked her if they were currently approving any GCs and she said NO. She said NO GCs are being approved at this time and they are working on other high priority projects. She couldn't even say when they would start approving GCs. She said as soon as we get orders from the higher ups.
Just thought I would let you guys know...
I don't know how many more days I can take off to call INS. I am goingto run out of vacation time soon...
