I-485 Processing Times Vary
Posted May 28, 2004

Vermont Service Center

Our Vermont Service Center (VSC) cases are showing an impressive movement. The most recent approval was issued on May 18, 2004, for a case filed just one year earlier, on May 25, 2003. This is a significant variance from the published times, which in recent months have reflected a processing time of about 18 months. The published processing date when this case was approved was February 15, 2002. Of course, there are I-485 cases that we filed before that date that remain yet been approved or even scheduled for an interview at the local USCIS District Office.

In addition, several cases were transferred for interview at the local office well in advance of the anticipated processing dates. The transfers coincided with the I-140 approvals. In those cases, the I-485s were only filed quite recently; about 6-8 months ago. The I-140s were filed a bit before the I-485s in these cases.

Yes, when they started approving a few of Oct'02 cases about 4 months back, myself and a whole lot of others had the same hope. Now our FP is expired and nothing is happening. Obviously the INS magic work only for < 5% of the people. Ofcourse, we all hope to be that lucky 5%, but ultimately 95% of the people are unlucky :o

The situation back is not the situation now. Nothing wrong in expecting. Besides I will not get disappointed if my case does not get approved by end of 2004 or 2005. I am least bothered. I am planning to Return 2 India.

Jai Hind.

Good to have expectations though !

I was expecting my labor to be approved in 9 months and it was approved in 6. I was expecting my 140 in 12 months, but rather it took less than 10. May be i should be that lucky 5% now. :) It does not matter what we do afterwards if at all we get our GC or not, but nothing wrong in believing our guts though.

Take It Easy

Well murthy and others (IMHO they are all useless attorneys who are only interested in promoting their incomes) can only quote what they hear in AILA meetings and otherwise. Their observations have been proved wrong from time to time. Nobody knows how VSC functions till VSC comes out and spills the beans explcitly. So while 2003 and maybe even 2004 can be adjudicated it is all a myth to throw people into confusion and raise people's hopes falsely. So take it easy guys as nobody can help us and all of us are resigned to fate (Once you realize that you will learn to take this easy).

Of course in the mean time let us all support Mr.Rajiv khanna as he is truely making efforts for the world to realize the legal immigrants pathetic situation.
