Max period for H1 6-Years. True Or False

The Max period for a H1 Visa Holder to be in the US is 6 Years. Is a true fact that after the 6 year period is over HE HAS TO LEAVE THE US for a minimum period of 1 year before returning back to the US on another H1 ??

OR. After a 6 year term in the US on an H1 visa; whats the wait period (outside the US; eg:Canada) before one can return to the US on another H1.?

Any help on this topic would be appreciated.

True, But he can extend his H1 beyond 6 years if he has a valid green card petition pending for more than 365 days, ask your company lawyer for info.
