Marrying to a US Citizen - Issues?

Hello guys,

My sister (in India, not US citizen) is planning to get married to a US Citizen. I have heard that in that case she won't be able to come to US immediately and visa processing for such cases takes a long time (2-3yrs).

Can you please briefly explain the process? Any website that I can refer to? Any help is greatly appreciated.

No, that is not true. She will be able to come to the US using the V Visa within 6 months.
The whole point of the Help Green Card spouses, is for the same rule to be applicable for Permanent Residents as well, in addition to US Citizens so that spouses can join soon.
Right now for Permanent Residents, it takes around 5 - 6 years to bring their spouses to the US.

Clarification: After some search on V visa, I found out that it's meant for spouses of Legal Resident. There is a similar K3 VISA for spouses of US Citizens.

Can somebody comment on how typically US citizens go about this issue? So, after marriage (let's say in India), can the spouse of US citizen apply for K3 immediately and how long does it take to actually get K VISA and to be able to come to US?

All the help is appreciated.
 
Why not just obtain a K-1 visa as a fiancee, enter the US and marry within 90 days. Then file AOS, obtain AP and travel at will?
