My girlfriend is an f1 student here in Florida, and we have discussed getting married. When she first moved here 3 years ago, her brother (married to a US citizen) petitioned for her to become a permanent resident. She just received the letter in the mail stating her petition was accepted and now she is awaiting an appointment or interview and she was told by her brother she may have to go back to Venezuela for 1 or 2 YEARS.
She and I were already discussing marriage before this letter arrived, and I did not know how us getting married would affect this process? If we get married and file all of the proper paperwork, would this automatically negate her interview/appointment in Venezuela? Would she still have to leave? What would we need to do once we got married?
