I came here from 2000 on a B1/B2 visitors visa. i had my visa from i was minor and it ran into the time i was a legal adult,19. While in the US on a visit i heard about the edcation opportunity and took advantage. Applied to the school got accepted. Applied for extension that will allow me to later apply for change of status. During all this i was attending school, and i never got a response from INS. The school tried to send the papers again just to make sure i was not in violation. When i did recieve a reply from an immigration consultant via the school we were told i would be considered illegal. Now i am planning on getting married to a citizen i want to know what are the steps. i have copies of the papers i filed, my passport, and I-94. Given that i overstayed and my visa had expired while waiting on INS response, what are my chances to get married and not having too many glitches.
