If somebody gets a green card thru employment and later marrys a US citizen does he/she still have to wait 5 years from the GC approval or would he/she be eligible for citizenship after three years ??
yes. provided you have also been married for a minimum of two years. in other words, you are eligible for citizenship if you have been a PR for three years, and been married to a USC for two, whichever later.
