Married USC - H1B Expired

Hi,

My friend married a US Citizen last week. But, his H1B expired back in Feb 2003.

What are his options? Can he still file for GC? What are the steps to follow.

He and his wife are really concerned. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

The USC wife needs to file an I-130 and he needs to file an I-485. There are many supporting and supplemental forms and a ton of additional documents. His status probably will not be a problem due to his marriage to a USC but that would take a more detailed analysis with the major concern being the manner of his last entry and whether he is in removal procedings or not.
